 Is my Sorethroat due to Covid ? 

Although colds is the one of the most common complaints of patients with Covid but often disregarded especially for patients with rhinitis. A sore throat complaint however is the usual reason why a patient would consult an ENT. The question often asked, is this already Covid ? 

There is no real difference between a COVID and a non-COVID sore throat. However, it's important to take into account the external factors that may cause the pain.  A sore throat could feel like your throat actually hurts, or gets irritated. Some even experience a mild burning or itching sensation, which can get worse when swallowing food or water. Sometimes, a hoarse or muzzled voice, developing white patches (only clinically seen) or swelling can intensity a sore throat.

That being said, if you suspect your sore throat to be a sign of COVID-19, there are steps to be taken.

It hasn't been really made clear yet at what point does a sore throat develop in a COVID-19 case. However, it is a common symptom, more so, if you have been in close contact of someone recently detected COVID-19 positive.  The only real way to clear your doubts would be to get a COVID-test done (RT PCR swab test). If you suspect an infection and feel no difference in your symptoms in a matter of two-three days, a test could help provide a better prognosis.

It's important to also be on the lookout for other symptoms, such as dry cough, fever, headache, shortness of breath, consider it a sign to talk to the doctor at the earliest. As a precautionary sign, start self-isolating and take measures of disinfection to protect the ones around you.

Covid ertriage

 SOME THINGS FOR CLARIFICATION:

I have been working in the COVID ER-Triage since May 2020. We doctors are assigned to work in different posts each day - assessing patients who come in, seeing patients in the consultation area, disclosing RT-PCR results to patients. We see COVID cases everyday. 


1. Most of the cases of COVID are MILD. 

A lot of people are anxious about COVID. Please know that majority of patients present with MILD symptoms. Some would only have headache OR fever OR sorethroat OR colds OR loss of smell/taste for a day. Minsan isang symptom lang. Minsan dalawa. Minsan madaming symptoms pero mild lang lahat. Some would present with these symptoms for several days. ALL of them recover fully within a few days. 

To be honest, hindi po ako takot magkacovid kasi given my age and my health status, I would probably get mild disease as well (lalo na ngayon na I have some protection since vaccinated na with the first dose - moreso, several weeks after my second dose in May). 

Ang takot ako ay ang magkacovid ako AT mahawaan ko sila Mommy and Daddy. Lalo na si Mommy - diabetic, hypertensive with high stroke risk. Check na check sya sa mga risk factors for severe covid. 


2. SEVERE COVID

This is the reason why we are vigilant with precautionary reminders: Proper mask wearing, hand hygiene, social distancing, healthy lifestyle. 

The vulnerable at at high risk to present with severe covid. Sino ang mga vulnerable? Elderly, mga may cancer, mga diabetic, mga hypertensive, mga obese, may history ng lung disease (eg. TB), stroke, cardiac disease, immune diseases. 

Ganito ang typical presentation ng severe covid sa ER: May darating na elderly patient na naghahabol ng hininga. Gasping for air. Pagcheck mo ng oxygen saturation nila, 70-80% lang. Itatakbo namin sa ER para mabigyan agad ng oxygen. Icchest xray. Then makikita mo na both sides ng lungs inflammed. Most of them would need to be immediately given high-flow oxygen or intubated (magpapasok ng tube sa airway kasi yun lang ang paraan para matulungan ang lungs nila makakuha ng oxygen). Kung hindi ibibigay ang necessary oxygen supplementation, magdedeteriorate talaga ang patient. Madaming tests na ginagawa bukod sa RT-PCR - CT scan, blood workups, ECG, ABG bago masabi na covid pneumonia nga talaga ang diagnosis. Ibibigay ang mga gamot na based sa mga validated studies ay beneficial. Kung magkacomplication (dahil severe covid can lead to kidney failure, stroke/other neurologic problems, bleeding etc.), the patient will be managed accordingly - dialysis, 

transfusion, thrombolysis etc. - depende sa kung anong kailangan ng patient. 

Typical ang progression: magkakaubo/lagnat/manghihina tapos within 2-4 days, hirap nang huminga na kailangan na dalhin sa hospital. 

Some patients recover. 

Some do not. 

Kanino sila nahawa? Sa kasama sa bahay. Almost all the time, relatives would admit na meron may symptoms sa kanila when we do history taking; or yung patient lumalabas madalas. 


3. QUARANTINE

Kaya tayo nagqquarantine (mag-isa, hiwalay sa mga kasama sa bahay) kasi ayaw natin kumalat yung virus at abutin ang mga vulnerable. 

To date, ~12,900 Filipino patients have already died from covid since last year. 

Ayaw na namin yan dumami pa. 

Kaya pag sinabing quarantine, quarantine. Yan ay para sa pamilya mo, sa ibang tao - PARA HINDI SILA MAHAWA SAYO. 

Kapag may covid ka, kahit mild, nagsshed ka ng virus for about 10 days. Yung hininga mo, yung plema mo, yung dumi mo (kung may diarrhea ka as symptom), may viral particles na nakakahawa for about ~10 days.

Mag-quarantine para hindi makahawa nang iba. Gagaling ka din naman kung mild lang ang covid mo. Kaso yung mga vulnerable, hindi kasing swerte mo. 


4. WE DOCTORS ARE NOT SCARING YOU

Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit pag nagppost ako ng precaution e iniisip nyo na tinatakot ko kayo. 

WE WANT YOU TO BE VIGILANT BECAUSE WE DON’T WANT THE VIRUS TO SPREAD FURTHER AND REACH THE VULNERABLE. 

Madali kasi maipasa ang SARS-COV 2 virus. 

Kaso promise, ang tigas ng ulo nyo kasi... 

Kaya kami paulit ulit. Nakakapagod kayo, promise. 

Magsuot ng mask nang maayos. 

Huwag hahawakan ang mukha nang hindi nakapaghugas/disinfect ng kamay. 

Magsocial distancing. 

Huwag magaalis nang mask pag nasa labas, lalo na kung may kaharap na ibang tao. 

Ito ang mga proven na effective prevention. 

Halos lahat ng pasyente namin sa ER/consultation sinasabi nagvivitamins sila kaso nagkakasakit pa din. As much as healthy lifestyle is important, important pa din ang prevention using mask/social distance/hand hygiene. 

Try mo minsan bilangin ang mga tao sa labas na hindi maayos magsuot ng mask. Alam kong alam mo kung anong ibig kong sabihin. May makikita at makikita kang hindi maayos magmask.


5. HOSPITAL/FACILITY OCCUPANCY

Ang availability ng mga rooms for admission ay nagiiba iba sa bawat araw at oras. Depende kasi yan sa kung ilan ang maddischarge for that day. 

Iba iba din ang bilang ng rooms depende sa severity. May mga pang ICU. May mga pang regular room. May mga for facility. 

Lately, dahil sa dami ng cases, mas madami ang needed iadmit sa hospital - ICU and regular room. Kaya napupuno ang ER. Katulad nitong huli, yung mga nasa ER kahapon, nasa ER pa din ngayon. Ang hirap humanap ng hospital na may available room dito sa Metro Manila lately. 

Limited lang ang capacity ng ER kasi kailangan may social distancing pa din doon at limited din ang manpower - doctors, nurses, nursing aides; pati supplies na nasa ER - like oxygen, regulators, beds/wheelchairs. As much as gusto namin kayo tanggapin, minsan hindi na din talaga kaya. Ginagawan ng paraan pag napupuno (promise. Sangkatutak na pagbabago na nga ng hospital ER protocols para makaaccomodate nang mas madami.)

All these things considered, mag-iingat po palagi at maging responsible. Yun ang hiling namin sa inyo. 

Huwag manghawa ng iba. 

Mag-effort hindi lang para sayo kung di para din sa ibang tao.

Neuropsychiatric Symptoms of Lupus

When lupus affects the central nervous system, it can cause a variety of symptoms, both neurological and psychiatric. We refer to this condition as neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE). Symptoms can range from mild to severe and include:

• Blurred vision

• Clumsiness or unsteady gait

• Confusion and delirium

• Headaches

• Hearing and speech problems

• Loss of cognitive function

• Memory loss

• Mood disorders, including depression and bipolar-type symptoms

• Seizures

• Stroke

• Tingling, numbness, burning, and painful nerve sensations

• Tremors, tics, and involuntary movement

Pasintabi na po kung ang paksa ko ngayong araw na ito ay medyo maselan. 

Kung mapapansin ninyo, ako’y madalas binabatikos dahil sa aking mga pananaw at paniniwala. 

Bilang isang halal, ang layunin ko lang naman ay ang maging tapat at ang magsabi ng KATOTOHANAN. Nais ko ring linawin ang mga nalalabuan, ituro sa tamang daan ang mga naliligaw ng landas at itama ang mali.

Masama ba yon? 

Often my frustration levels get the better of me ... but only because I think the people deserve BETTER. 

And since the 2022 PH Election nears, I just want to set the record straight: I shall run again as Governor of Cavite. 

The assumptions that I am aiming for a national post are false. 

I know my limits. My work for Cavite is not yet finished. Most importantly, I am not the type to abandon my people.


However, the reason many of my topics on social media are national-related is because these issues do affect Cavite.

For example, ito po ang Basic Wage Structure ng Cavite ayon sa pinakahuling datos mula sa DOLE:

2. Agriculture approx. PHP 303-372

3. Retail & Service approx. PHP 303


Ito naman po ang Basic Wage Structure sa Metro Manila:

1. Non-Agriculture is at PHP 537

2. Agri/Retail/Manufacturing is at PHP 500


Ang minimum wage ay inilaan para matugunan ang mga    basic necessities ng mga mamamayan. 


Ang problema ng mga Caviteño:

1. Ang presyo ng bilihin sa palengke ng Cavite at Metro Manila ay pareho lamang;

2. Ang halaga ng Public Transportation ng Cavite at Metro Manila ay iisa lamang;

3. Ang halaga ng kuryente, tubig, at internet ay walang pinagkaiba.


So why the disparity in minimum salary? Eh ang Cavite ay kadikit lang naman ng Metro Manila. 

Hindi ba't ang pamamaraan ng batas ay sadyang outdated na at hindi makatarungan sa aming mga probinsyano?

Kaya't nais ko sanang pakiusapan ang lahat ng kinauukulan na tingnan naman ng parehas ang sitwasyon ng pamumuhay dito sa Cavite. 

Let’s consider the Equal Protection of the Law: We do not demand absolute equality among the locals; we just want consideration for our people to be treated alike, under like circumstances and conditions both as to privileges conferred and liabilities enforced.


After all, Cavite contributes heavily to the economic growth of the country.

Sa mga hindi pa rin naniniwala sa covid o pagtaas ng mga cases ng covid-19 share ko po sa inyo itong palitan ng privilege communications ng mga private doctors sa viber group chat...


1. Nagtatanungan saan pwedeng papuntahin ang pasyente nila na kailangan ipa-admit because of severe covid-19 cases.

2. Exchanging notes/tips on how to handle problematic cases.

3. Mga doctor asking kapwa doctor saan pwede dalhin kamag-anak (parents/asawa/anak) nila na positive covid na hirap huminga.

4. Buong metro manila walang ICU at maski private room man lang para mapa-confined ang kanilang covid pasyente.

5. Madaming doktor na positive covid ngayon.

6. May mga doktor din na na-expose sa covid positive kaya naka-quarantine.

7. Mga senior citizen na doctor nag indefinitely leave muna.

8. Currently may planning ng improvise treatments kung paano ihandle ang moderate to severe cases sa bahay lang ng pasyente kung wala talagang available hospital. (Actual message: lets work on how can we help our patient na turned down for admission.. madami na sila and expected pang mas dumami in the coming weeks.)

9. Many doctors are so worried, full of uncertainties at the present covid surge.

10. Lahat, as in lahat, naniniwala na herd immunity thru vaccination ang kinakailangan sa lalong madaling panahon sana. 


Ngayon sasabihin ng iba hindi totoo ang covid? Ano yun, naglolokohan lang kami sa viber group namin? All doctors in that viber group mula sa iba’t ibang ospital ay halos mga top doctors at may mga professors sa big medical schools.

Change oil.

 Daming nagtatanong sa akin ano daw yung change oil. Aba, syempre laging handa akong tumulong at magbigay paliwanag sa abot ng aking makakaya noh.


Ganito po yun mga iho at iha... 

May story po kasi na may isang girl nahuli yung boyfriend niya kasama ang best friend niyang babae na nag-overnight. Ang excuse ni best friend nagpasama lang na magpa-change oil ng sasakyan. 


Wala naman akong nakitang masama doon. Nag magandang loob lang yung best friend niya samahan yung bf niya. Syempre inabot ng overnight siguro nahirapan maghanap ng available oil. O baka mahaba pila sa talyer kung saan sila nagpachange oil. Bait nga ng bestfriend niya. Buti nga at nag overtime pa yung mekaniko kahit may pandemic. Kawawa nga bf ni girl at yung best friend niya kasi baka nalipasan ng gutom mga yun. Dapat inintindi na lang.

Preaching jesus work in heart.

 Q - First time kong gagawa ng preaching.  At hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko.  Kasi hindi naman ako ganun ka talino o kaganda mag salita. 

Baka mamaya malï mali pa ang masabi ko sa harap kapag i dedeliver ko na yung word of God.. 

At saka po parang tingin ko po hindi din naman po ako karapat dapat na mg preach.  Kasi po araw araw ko pong nagagawa yung alam kung mali sa mata ng Lord.  Parang wala sa akin ang example ng preaching ko po.

 

A - Just preach.  Di naman lessons FROM YOU but from the Bible at di naman buhay mo kundi buhay ni Jesus ang ipi-preach.

3. matino ang pag-iinterpret at pag-aaply nung verses.

If true, that reflects the character of some or most Filipinos. Gusto makatipid, gusto makaisa sa sariling gobyerno. Natuwa yung kamag-anak ng namatay kasi wala o menos gastos, natuwa din yung doktor at ospital dahil makakakabig sa Philhealth. Krimen yan! Kung may ebidensya dapat ipaalam sa involved agencies. Ang tanong... Sino mag susumbong? Yung relatives ng namatayan na nakinabang din? Yung walanghiyang doktor na pumirma ng death certificate o yung gahaman na ospital na makakakolekta sa Philhealth? Malabo po yun. Ngayon, magtataka pa ba tayo bakit hindi umaasenso ang bansa? Daming graft & corruption sa anumang sektor ng lipunan. Walang disiplina. Walang malasakit at zero pagmamahal sa Pilipinas. 


Halimbawa na lang sa isang traffic violation, magpapakiramdaman yan. Yung traffic enforcer titingnan kung mag-aalok ng areglo yung violator. Si violator naman masasabing “pasensya na sir. Baka naman pwedeng... “ At malamang sa hindi ang sagot ni enforcer, “ikaw na bahala akin.”

“Dear loving Brethren,

I am writing this Report with a broken and trembling heart. My eye is filled with sadness and tears of hurt. First of all I want to beg you to pray for our safety and protection. I pray that the angel of the Lord will continue to surround every home in our country.

The military has taken control and is killing civilians. Every day we needed to collect dead bodies on the road with tears and pains. Banks are being shut down, and it isn’t easy to get online.

It breaks my heart so much. Everywhere is filled with smoke and fire as factories are burned and destroyed. Thousands of people don’t have work, food, and a place to stay now.

Almost all of our church members ran back to their village. There is neither market nor a shop where we can buy food because every road is blocked now. How long will we last if it continues like this!?

Just a while ago, the soldiers’ truck came and stopped near our house. We were terrified; they captured six people who were having tea in the shop. We don’t know what they will do to them. God is my only Hope.

All missionaries are suffering the misery of this greatly. My faithful missionary friend has a wife who is about to give birth, and there is no hospital opened. He said to me they would deliver the baby themselves in their small house by trusting God.

Dear friends, I have two small little girls, one is two years, and another is six months; I don’t care if I don’t have food to eat, but I think much for them and their safety. May you continue to uphold us in your prayer for our safety, provision, and protection. Soldiers are catching people from every house, and now they are near to us. Please pray for us.”

1. Kung ang intention ng nagpagawa ay mag-REST ---hindi ma-stress sa mga manghihiram ---WAG MANGHIRAM.

Makaka-stress ka lang. 

Maraming stress kaakibat ng bawat use of a resort.

DO NOT REST AND RELAX AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS.

2. Kung for rent ang rest house, ang intention ng nagpagawa ay magpa-rent, hindi magpa-HIRAM, so wag manghiram.

Kung gusto mo, mag rent ka. Pero wag kang mag-offer kunwari mag rent pero ang tunay mong pakay ay maka-libre.

In this case, kung may pang rent ka, sa iba ka na lang mag rent para walang awkwardness. Ilalagay mo ang may-ari sa awkward situation na para pa syang bad kung tanggapan ka ng bayad.

Kung wala ka namang pang rent, manahimik ka sa bahay mo.

Punuin mo ng tubig ang batya, at magtabo kang maligo sa tabi.

For those who are 55 years old and above.  This is for you. I really like what is said here and am going to try my best to follow it. Thank you to the person who wrote this. May God bless us all as we strive to be a blessing to others at this age, especially to our children.

🚩Respect the younger generation and their opinions. They may not have the same ideas as you, but they are the future, and will take the world in their direction. Give advice, not criticism, and try to remind them that yesterday’s wisdom still applies today.

 Never use the phrase: “In my time.” Your time is now. As long as you’re alive, you are part of this time. 


🚩Some people embrace their golden years, while others become bitter and surly. Life is too short to waste your days on the latter. Spend your time with positive, cheerful people, it’ll rub off on you and your days will seem that much better. Spending your time with bitter people will make you feel older and harder to be around.


🚩Do not surrender to the temptation of living with your children or grandchildren (if you have a financial choice, that is). Sure, being surrounded by family sounds great, but we all need our privacy. They need theirs and you need yours.  Even then, do so only if you feel you really need the help or do not want to live  by yourself 


🚩Don’t abandon your hobbies. If you don’t have any, make new ones. You can travel, hike, cook, read, dance. You can adopt a cat or a dog, grow a kitchen  garden, play cards, checkers, chess, dominoes, golf. 


🚩Try to go. Get out of the house, meet people you haven’t seen in a while, experience something new (or something old). The important thing is to leave the house from time to time. Go to museums, go walk through a park. Get out there.


🚩Speak in courteous tones and try not to complain or criticize too much unless you really need to. Try to accept situations as they are. 


🚩Pains and discomfort go hand in hand with getting older. Try not to dwell on them but accept them as a part of the life.


🚩If you’ve been offended by someone – forgive them. If you’ve offended someone - apologize. Don’t drag around resentment with you. It only serves to make you sad and bitter. It doesn’t matter who was right. Someone once said: “Holding a grudge is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.” Don’t take that poison. Forgive, forget and move on with your life.


🚩Laugh. Laugh away your worries  Remember, you are one of the lucky ones. You managed to have a life, a long one. Many never get to this age, never get to experience a full life.

After bath, apply some baking soda onto the armpits.


Rub the underarms with coconut oil to remove the darkness from the underarms.


Make a paste using 1 tsp of lime juice, 1 tsp of cucumber juice as well as a hint of turmeric powder. 

Apply this paste on your armpits and wash off after 20 minutes.


Take 1 tsp of gram flour, 1 tsp of curd and a pinch of turmeric to make a paste.

Apply this mixture to your armpits and rinse after it has dried with cold water.
