I grew up in the Philippines and never once questioned my parents income, it was never a discussion. We didn't eat a lot of fast food because it was considered a treat, not a food group. We ate homemade meals like adobo, galunggong, and vegetables - (which were not an optional choice). No vegetables, no dessert!
We grew up during a time when we pulled weeds, babysat, helped neighbours with chores to be able to earn our own money. We by no means were given everything we wanted.
We went outside a lot to play, ride bikes, run with friends, play hide and seek, or went swimming. We rarely just sat inside. Bottled water was unheard of. If we had a coke, it was in a glass bottle, and we didn’t break the bottle when finished. We saved it and cashed it back in at the shops for a sweet.
After school, we came home and did homework and chores, before going outside or having friends over. We would ride our bikes for hours. We had to tell our parents where we were going, who we were going with, and be home when the street lights came on!
You LEARNED from your parents instead of disrespecting them, and treating them as if they knew absolutely nothing. What they said was LAW, and you did not question it, and you had better know it!
We watched what we said around our elders because we knew if we DISRESPECTED any grown-up we would get a real telling off, it wasn't called abuse, it was called discipline! We held doors, carried the shopping, and gave up our seat for an older person without being asked. You didn't hear swear words on the radio in songs or TV.
“Please and Thank you, Po at Opo” were part of our daily vocabulary!
The world we live in now is just so full of people who hate and disrespect others.

A few stops later a man got on and asked him “what are you studying for? You look confused, maybe I can help?” He said my son just failed a math test, and I am re-studying fractions so I can teach him. I am 42 years old and I don’t remember any of this, so I am reteaching myself.
The guy in the black informed him that he use to be a math teacher, and would help quiz him. Everything the man in the red got wrong, it was broken down and corrected for him.
By the end of the train 🚊 ride, the man had a better understanding. He had a new method to come home with to teach his son. It’s the little things like this that I love seeing, because most people could care less about what the person next to them is going through ❤️❤️❤️

Just now, papunta ako sa SM kasi magpapagawa ako mg salamin. Bihira ako lumabas recently kasi mas gusto ko mag stay sa bahay. At kung hindi importante hindi ako nalabas.
Ang tagal bago ako nakasakay ng jeep, may tumawid na bulag, si Kuya. Tinulungan sya ng ale makatawid at naghintay din ng masasakyan.
Ako: " Paano sya sasakay kung di naman nya nakikita ung karatula sa jeep? Saan kaya sya papunta? Paano sya papara? Paano sya sasakay? Although araw araw naman nya ginagawa yon alam ko sanay na sya don. Pero bakit di ko pa rin mapigilan ang sarili ko at nilapitan ko sya.
Me: Kuya, saan po kayo papunta?
Sya: Sa SM bacoor.
Me: okay po, sabay na tayo doon din ako papunta.
