Imagine for a moment: There was no Duterte being questionably arrested. Imagine there was no Sara Duterte in the picture at all.
What does that leave us with? THE REAL ISSUE.
• A government that is bleeding public funds into unaccountable spending.
• A Congress controlled by Marcos Jr.’s cousin, securing its power through anomalies in the GAA, PhilHealth, and unconstitutional budget cuts.
• A potential 12-0 Senate sweep that threatens to dismantle the last remaining checks and balances.
So, I wonder: Where are those who claim to be neutral? Where are those who say, “I don’t support either Duterte or Marcos Jr., so this isn’t my fight”?
If you are playing safe, then you are part of the problem.
This is NOT about choosing sides between two political figures. This is about waking up from shortsightedness before it’s too late.
I. THE FUTURE IF FILIPINOS STAY SILENT: A NATION WITHOUT ACCOUNTABILITY
Let’s fast forward. Imagine Marcos Jr.’s slate wins a 12-0 victory in the Senate…
Congress is already controlled by his cousin, Speaker Martin Romualdez. If the Senate falls under his grip, there will be no real opposition left.
And without accountability, here’s what happens next:
1. Unchecked spending continues—billions of confidential funds balloon while essential services deteriorate.
2. The PhilHealth scandal deepens—but no investigation pushes through because no senator will dare question it.
3. Education continues to suffer—because a government that fears an educated population is a government that thrives on control.
4. Constitutional rights erode—because with full control they can start rewriting laws that serve only their interests.
By then, will you still say, “I’m neutral, this isn’t my problem”?
II. THIS IS NOT A DUTERTE vs MARCOS JR BATTLE—THIS IS ABOUT THE FILIPINO PEOPLE WAKING UP
This is not about Duterte.
This is not about Marcos Jr.
This is about YOU—about every Filipino who refuses to see the bigger picture.
This is about whether you allow personal biases and political convenience to blind you from what’s really happening.
Are you voting based on shortsighted personal interests, or are you thinking of your children’s future?
As candidates, are you playing safe to win elections, or are you standing for real accountability?
Are you staying silent because you don’t want to take sides, or are you too afraid to confront the truth?
III. THE FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS—IF WE CHOOSE TO SEE IT
This fight isn’t about loyalty to a politician. It’s about loyalty to the country.
Filipinos who remain silent today will be the first to suffer tomorrow.
Because when you let a government rule without accountability, it’s only a matter of time before your silence becomes your greatest regret.
So wake up, Pilipinas. Before you decide who you will support—the question is, what kind of future will you allow?
Writing this with a heavy heart 😢,
