Save your mental health.

 A colleague introduced this quote to me:

"Focus only on things you can control."

And I have been practicing this ever since, I learned to respond to toxicity.

Anything that is uncontrollable is toxic.

Save your mental health!

Stolen watch.

 An old man meets a young man who asks:

“Do you remember me?”

And the old man says no. Then the young man tells him he was his student, And the teacher asks:

“What do you do, what do you do in life?”

The young man answers:

“Well, I became a teacher.”

“ah, how good, like me?” Asks the old man.

“Well, yes. In fact, I became a teacher because you inspired me to be like you.”

The old man, curious, asks the young man at what time he decided to become a teacher. And the young man tells him the following story:

“One day, a friend of mine, also a student, came in with a nice new watch, and I decided I wanted it.

I stole it, I took it out of his pocket.

Shortly after, my friend noticed the his watch was missing and immediately complained to our teacher, who was you.

Then you addressed the class saying, ‘This student's watch was stolen during classes today. Whoever stole it, please return it.’

I didn't give it back because I didn't want to.

You closed the door and told us all to stand up and form a circle.

You were going to search our pockets one by one until the watch was found.

However, you told us to close our eyes, because you would only look for his watch if we all had our eyes closed.

We did as instructed.

You went from pocket to pocket, and when you went through my pocket, you found the watch and took it. You kept searching everyone's pockets, and when you were done you said ‘open your eyes. We have the watch.’

You didn't tell on me and you never mentioned the episode. You never said who stole the watch either. That day you saved my dignity forever. It was the most shameful day of my life.

But this is also the day I decided not to become a thief, a bad person, etc. You never said anything, nor did you even scold me or take me aside to give me a moral lesson.

I received your message clearly.

Thanks to you, I understood what a real educator needs to do.

Do you remember this episode, professor?

The old professor answered, ‘Yes, I remember the situation with the stolen watch, which I was looking for in everyone’s pocket. I didn't remember you, because I also closed my eyes while looking.’

This is the essence of teaching:

If to correct you must humiliate; you don't know how to teach.”

Life is to be happy now.

 Life is filled with joy and hardship. This is a great truth, so make sure every day you spend time doing one thing that brings you joy and a smile to your face.πŸ˜€

Today choose to do one thing that will bring you laughter and peace in your heart.

Don't wait until everything in your life is sorted out, and then you will relax and enjoy your day, no, find moments of fun and happiness now. Don’t wait for tomorrow.

My ex-husband Mickey, @michellemaros dad went to sleep on August 6, 2007 and did not wake up on August 7.

The reality and Truth that “no one is guaranteed tomorrow” is etched in my consciousness.

The way you live life is changed forever when you realize the ordinary moments of life are an extraordinary gift.πŸ’™

(The average life expectancy is 78 years, while the retirement age is 67. We work for 50 years to maybe enjoy 11. Start enjoying life now. No one is guaranteed tomorrow.-unknown)

A moment

 MOMENTS by Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD

In a bus stop somewhere in Spain, I went to a coffee machine, and with my basic knowledge of Spanish, I read and followed the instructions, put in the coins, and pressed the button. Success! But the grinding and dripping sound of the machine was drowned by a frantic cry of the storekeeper, shouting: “LA TASA! LA TASA!” I had the coffee all figured out with my head, and with my money, but I forgot the cup to catch it.

* * *

In today’s Gospel (Mk 9:38-43, 45, 47-48), Jesus warns us not to be too attached to worldly pleasures and treasures. All too often we forget what is really important in our lives because we are so busy filling up our heads with knowledge, or filling up our pockets with money, that we forget or ignore to fill up our hearts with love, than catch our real blessings.

* * *

May it not be said of us at the end of our lives that our heads and our pockets were full, but our hearts were empty.

* * *

Look at your hands. Jesus sternly tells us today to cut off and get rid of whatever makes us sin. “It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire.” As we look at our hands, may we not see stealing hands, killing hands, accusing hands, selfish hands, violent hands.

* * *

Today’s second reading (James 5,1-6) is likewise a strong warning to the rich of their impending miseries: “You have stored up treasure for the last days … wages you have withheld from the workers who harvested your fields … you have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure; you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter.” God does not sleep. There is divine justice. The good will be rewarded, and the bad will be punished.

* * *

I remember in shame how we would hunt for birds when we were children, and pounce on them especially when it rains, the time when they are most vulnerable. I shudder with guilt and shame with the thought that we took advantage of them, and hurt them, for our own enjoyment and pleasure … MEA CULPA. In this pandemic, there are adults who continue to take advantage of this difficult situation of our people to make money or to make a name. Shame on them.

* * *

“For whoever is not against us is for us.” I hope and pray that the Lord will bless us with leaders who unite, not divide us. We need to let go of our colors that leave us at odds with one another. May we learn to focus more on the mission, and less on the position in our common task of building our nation.

* * *

It will be October soon, the month of the Rosary. We continue to ask Mama Mary to help us cross over (itawid) this pandemic, and to straighten (ituwid) and cleanse us. Mama Mary, itawid at ituwid po n’yo kami. AMEN!

* * *

October is also mission month. Don’t forget this year, we are celebrating the 500 years of Christianity in our country. We remember with gratitude, we rejoice with humility, and we renew our commitment to share our faith, far and wide. “Gifted to give.” Sana we make this our mantra in life. Sana all!

* * *

Our first Filipino saint is San Lorenzo Ruiz (Sept. 28). Martyrs are those who sacrificed for others. We ask ourselves today: What have I sacrificed in life? What have I sacrificed for God, and for others? What have I sacrificed for my country?

* * *

Today we pray for our seafarers and their families. May the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael (Sept. 29) continue to protect, defend, and guide us all.

* * *

A moment with the Lord:  Lord, help us to let go of whatever or whoever imprisons us. Amen.

Paniniwala.

 To Each His Own

It depends talaga saan nakabaling.

Basta ang tandaan niyo maski ano mangyari at sinoman nakaupo ganun pa rin buhay natin depende sa ating sariling prinsipyo, sikap, tyaga at diskarte.

A wise

 ❤️...A WISE MAN ONCE SAID...❤️

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person that borrowed you remember or ask for it. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes.

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner.

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem;

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public;

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time;

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you. Besides, second opinion is good for an alternative;

8. Never interrupt people talking. Allow them to pour it out. As they say, hear them all and filter them all;

9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again. It encourages one to do more and it shows how appreciative you're;

10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.

11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately;

12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will;

13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next;

14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctors' appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say "I hope you’re okay". Don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness. If they want you to know, they'll do so without your inquisitiveness;

15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed at how rude you can treat someone below you but people will notice if you treat them with respect;

16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude;

17. Never give advice until you’re asked;

18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age and salary;

19. Mind your business unless anything involves you directly - just stay out of it;

20. Remove your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect. Moreso, eye contact is as important as your speech; and

21. Never talk about your riches in the midst of the poor. Similarly, don't talk about your children in the midst of the barren..!❤️

Why I Agreed to Run with Isko as his VP

 Why I Agreed to Run with Isko as his VP

By Doc Willie Ong (September 19, 2021)

Dear Friends,

First, I apologize if you are shocked by my decision. I also had a hard time believing at first.

For those who know me, my only goal in life is to help as many people as I can. When I was 17, our high school teacher asked us what our goal was in 25 years. I wrote that I wanted to help thousands of people, maybe even a million if I get lucky. So I became a doctor, an internist and a cardiologist. But I was not happy locked in a clinic seeing only a handful of patients, while many poor Filipinos suffer. I knew there were more lives I could save.

For 28 years now, my wife Dra Liza and I have been doing charity work. And through Facebook and YouTube, we have been giving free medical advice online. In my charity work, we visited the slum areas and this changed me. The poor’s makeshift houses are hot, oppressive, with a prevailing hopelessness. With this heartache, I saw many ways we can improve the health sector in our country. And I saw the need for a doctor in government. That is why I ran in 2019 for the Senate with little money or backing. Despite being labeled as a nuisance by some, I just bore the humiliation and continued on. My goal is to help the poor and sick, no matter what it takes.

After faring well but losing in 2019 (I ranked #18 despite a budget of only Php 581,000), I went back to charity work as if nothing happened. There were more lives to save. No complaints, no regrets. So in these past 3 years, we have helped as much as we can in private. I was 99% sure that I would not run, because I grew tired of politics. Fast forward to August 2021, I was all set to push through with more charity work, online teaching and giving inspiration in a private capacity. Seeing Covid ravage our land, seeing depressed viber posts, my faith wavered because I could not see any light at the end of the tunnel.

At the same time, I was also focused on my Mom who had a stroke two months back and was admitted in the hospital for severe pneumonia. I could still hear her say, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe” and we could not do anything.

Then, out of the blue, I got a call from Lito Banayo, saying Mayor Isko wants me for his Senate slate. I was tired. I have said “no” probably 10 times already to different kind and well-meaning politicians. And I was sure I will say “no” to him.

When I met Mayor Isko, I was brutally honest as always. I laid all my cards explaining why I am declining his kind offer. I don’t want a troubled life. I have done my part. I have sacrificed as much as I can. But Mayor Isko was persistent. More than 2 hours passed and I was the one to ask for a time out.

I said I was helping a lot already. Isko said it was not enough. I said I wanted to show the public that despite good survey ratings, I refused to run. Isko blurted it was my pride talking. I said I only wanted to help the poor outside, pointing at the Mayor’s window. And this is where Isko animatedly stood up and said, “Okay, if this is what you want, to help the poor. If you join my ticket, I will put you in the Senate Committee of Health and I, as President, will back you up 100%.” Still, I begged off. He’s still a politician, right?

As we parted, Isko said, “Even if you don’t join my ticket, I will still seek your help if I become President.” Hmmm…

I was disturbed in the next few days. Isko said he works so well with a doctor by his side like vice mayor and doctor Honey Lacuna. That is why he bought Remdesivir and Tocilizumab. Isko showed me the new hospitals he built. The free CT-Scans, portable X-rays and dialysis centers.

Two days before my mom passed, Lito Banayo calls again, that was September 9. He said that Isko has changed his mind after talking to me. Isko now wants me to be his Vice President. And since Covid will be here till 2024 and more pandemics may be coming, Isko wants me by his side to tide the country through the pandemic.

Is he serious? I had zero ratings as VP. I could hear the bashers typing.  I had sleepless nights, tumbling and troubled. My mom was near the end already. And on the day she passed, I had decided. There will be no political negotiations, no requests on my part should I accept this.

As my mom was to be buried, Lito called again. And he was trying to convince me again with statistics and numbers. I said, let’s not talk about numbers for I have decided already. Lito paused uncomfortably.

“Yes, I agree to be Isko’s Vice President. But I will do it my way. I will not bash anyone. I will not follow any script. I am ready to sacrifice... Use me as you will…”

And this is where I broke down crying. In a haze, I could hear Lito’s voice cracking too.

I said, “Our country needs hope and healing. Millions of lives are waiting. Let’s do this.”

So what made me join Isko and trust him? He was the one who gave me the green light to help manage our country’s health problems. Together, he said we will help millions like what I dreamed. He has done it in Manila with a doctor as his partner.

But even with all these, I am not naΓ―ve. Some people change when they win.

But my gut feeling… and my fervent prayer is that God protects him and protects our people.

If Isko wins, I have promised to devote the next 6 years to doing what I can inside his government. I am afraid, but I will try my best. There will be ups and downs with Covid for sure. But all decisions will be borne from a pure heart and a pure love for our people.

A few months back, I thought God has forgotten our country.

With Isko, I cling to the hope that God has a plan for us. He will wipe away every tear. And there will be tears of happiness in the future.

With these, I remain.

Mag invest.

 A man slaughtered a big cow, lit the grill and said to his daughter.

“Daughter, call our friends and neighbours to eat with us... let us feast!"

His daughter took to the street and started shouting.

“Please help us put out a fire at my Dad's house!".

After a few moments, a small group of people came out and the rest acted like they didn't hear the cry for help.

Those who came ate and drank until late.

The stunned father turned to his daughter and said to her.

“The people who came I don't know them and had never seen them before, so where are our friends and neighbours ?".

The daughter said.

“Those who came out of their homes came to help us put out a fire in our house and not for the party.

These are the ones who deserve our generosity and hospitality".

Conclusion:

Those who don’t help you during your struggle, shouldn’t eat with you at your victory party.

One dad

 One dad wrote: "My daughter had her first period on the bus today and a teenager who was a year older than her stops my daughter and says in her ear, look, there's a stain on your pants. Don't be surprised. Wrap my sweater around your waist and go home. Today I wanted to thank this child's mother for raising such a child. She did not record her, did not take photos or display her, did not tease or bully, but helped her "

When a child is brought up with love, tenderness, respect, solidarity, tolerance and with a spirit of service, then the world is more beautiful

A round of applause for those parents who instill moral, spiritual and civic values in their children, but a double round of applause for the children who put them into practice. πŸ‘πŸ’–

Good points ni Doc Gary Sy.

I am just sharing my opinions, views & thoughts on a particular health issue. Mga infectious disease specialists, pulmonologists, virologists, and related specialties ang naka-assigned to manage it.

Kailangan may designated hospital per region o city.

Your guess (answer) is as good as mine.

Note

Despite of all the help you lend to others, being a good one to others, some people will still have the guts to label you as "madamot" just because you didn't lend any to them.

πŸ˜…πŸ˜³ Kapag may naitulong thank you, kung wala move on, walang responsibilidad ang tao sayo, that's a fact not unless magulang siya ng anak mo. 😊

 There is a lesson in the leftovers. God gives in abundance. He takes whatever we can offer him in time, ability, or resources and multiplies its effectiveness beyond our wildest expectations. If you take the first step in making yourself available to God, he will show you how greatly you can be used to advance the work of his kingdom.
