Think be kind always..

“Bill worked in a factory on a production line, he was a big, awkward, homely guy. He dressed oddly with ill-fitting clothes. There were several fellow workers who thought it smart to make fun of him.

One day one fellow worker noticed a small tear in his shirt and gave it a small rip. Another worker in the factory added his bit, and before long there was quite a ribbon of cloth dangling. Bill went on about his work and as he passed too near a moving belt the shirt strip was sucked into the machinery. In a split second the sleeve and Bill was in trouble. Alarms were sounded, switches pulled, and trouble was avoided.

The foreman then summoned all the workers and related this story:

In my younger days I worked in a small factory. That's when I first met Mike. He was big and witty, was always making jokes, and playing little pranks. Mike was a leader. Then there was Peter who was a follower. He always went along with Mike. And then there was a man named Murray. He was a little older than the rest of us - quiet, harmless, apart. He always ate his lunch by himself.

He wore the same patched trousers for three years straight. He never entered into the games we played at noon, wrestling, horseshoes and such. He appeared to be indifferent, always sitting quietly alone under a tree instead. Murray was a natural target for practical jokes.

He might find a live frog in his lunch box, or a dead spider in his hat. But he always took it in good humour. Then one autumn, when things were quiet in the factory, Mike took off a few days to go hunting. Peter went along, of course. And they promised all of us that if they got anything they'd bring us each a piece.

So we were all quite excited when we heard that they'd returned and that Mike had got a really big buck. We heard more than that. Peter could never keep anything to himself, and it leaked out that they had real whopper to play on Murray. Mike had cut up the buck and had made a nice package for each of us. And, for the laugh, for the joke of it, he had saved the ears, the tail, the hoofs - it would be so funny when Murray unwrapped them.

Mike distributed his packages during the lunch break. We each got a nice piece, opened it, and thanked him. The biggest package of all he saved until last. It was for Murray. Peter was all but bursting; and Mike looked very smug. Like always, Murray sat by himself; he was on the far side of the big table. Mike pushed the package over to where he could reach it; and we all sat and waited.

Murray was never one to say much. You might never know that he was around for all the talking he did. In three years he'd never said more than hundred words. So we were all quite astounded with what happened next. He took the package firmly in his grip and rose slowly to his feet. He smiled broadly at Mike - and it was then we noticed that his eyes were glistening. His Adam's apple bobbed up and down for a moment and then he got control of himself.

'I knew you wouldn't forget me,' he said gratefully, 'I knew you'd come through! You're big and you're playful, but I knew all along that you had a good heart.'

He swallowed again, and then took in the rest of us. 'I know I haven't seemed too chummy with you men; but I never meant to be rude. You see, I've got nine kids at home - and a wife that's been an invalid - bedridden now for four years. She ain't ever going to get any better. And sometimes when she's real bad off, I have to sit up all night to take care of her. And most of my wages have had to go for doctors and medicine.

The kids do all they can to help out, but at times it's been hard to keep food in their mouths. Maybe you think it's funny that I go off by myself to eat my lunch. Well, I guess I've been a little ashamed, because I don't always have anything between my sandwich. Or like today - maybe there's only a raw turnip in my lunch box. But I want you to know that this meat really means a lot to me. Maybe more than to anybody here because tonight my kids' ... as he wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his hand ... 'tonight my kids will have a really good meal.'

He tugged at the string. We'd been watching Murray so intently we hadn't paid much notice to Mike and Peter. But we all noticed them now, because they both tried to grab the package. But they were too late. Murray had broken the wrapper and was already surveying his present. He examined each hoof, each ear, and then he held up the tail. It wiggled limply. It should have been so funny, but nobody laughed - nobody at all.

But the hardest part was when Murray looked up and said 'Thank you' while trying to smile. Silently one by one each man moved forward carrying his package and quietly placed it in front of Murray for they had suddenly realised how little their own gift had really meant to them, until now.

This was where the foreman left the story and the men. He didn't need to say any more; but it was gratifying to notice that as each man ate his lunch that day, they shared part with Bill and one fellow even took off his shirt and gave it to him.”

Think, be kind always...you just never know what someone is facing in their lives!

Know your worth.

10 prutas.

10 Pinakamasustansyang Prutas

8. Buko – Ang buko juice at nakatutulong sa may kidney stones (bato sa bato). Nililinis din ng buko ang ating katawan.

GERD.

Heartburn o GERD (GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease)

Ano ang sintomas ng heartburn?

• May mainit o “burning sensation” sa dakong dibdib, galing sa dakong sikmura hanggang sa leeg

• May bumalik na maasim o mapait na likido sa bibig at lalamunan, lalo na kung nakahiga

• Nahihirapang lumunok

• Pag-ubo o waring pagkasamid

Humor.

ACCTG/ECONOMY 101: Wife to her Accountant husband:
“What is Inflation?”
Husband:
“Earlier, you were 36-24-36.
But now you are
48-40-48.
Though you have everything bigger than before, your value has become less than before.
This is INFLATION.”😜

Economics is not that difficult if we have the right examples —
Interviewer: “What is Recession?”
Candidate: “When ‘Wine & Women"’ get replaced by ‘Water & Wife’, that critical phase of life is called Recession!!”😜

Accountancy fact:
What is the difference between Liability & Asset?
A drunk friend is liability.
But,
A drunk Girlfriend is an Asset.
😜😜😜😜😜

An Economist beautifully explained two reasons for having 2 wives:
— Monopoly should be broken.
— Competition improves the quality of service.
If you have 1 wife, she fights with you!
If you have 2 wives, they will fight for you!!🤣🤣🤣

Humor me.. 😄😄

Having no problems. Permission to post Mommy N

Having no problems is the biggest problem of all.

In every stage of your business from start-up to survival, survival to professionalization, professionalization to rapid growth, there will be problems that will arise.

Meron ka bang roadblock sa business mo, right now?

Don’t worry.

This is a clear sign that your business is growing. If you are not experiencing any problems at all, then I’m afraid that your business has stopped growing.

Your business has become stagnant.

Your sales and profit have plateaued.

The number of your customers has been more or less the same.

In business, plateauing is a dangerous sign.
This is the photo of the dreaded plateau of living things.
And your business is a living thing.  Read more about plateaus here.

Even when your business has not declined, because your sales and profits have not increased, you won’t be able to afford salary increases for your employees, right?

Saan manggagaling ang funds, di ba?

If this happens, they will naturally start to look for other job options that can pay them better.

Because the needs of your employees will continue to grow.

The needs of your customers will also change.

Just like what is happening now to Honda. This company has been operating its manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for almost 3 decades.

Without any previous warning, they announced their plans to shut down the plant to their employees and gave them only one month’s notice.

This is a much-publicized event that may have sparked fear in your employees when they start to feel that you have plateaued.

They would try to avoid a one-month notice that will surely cause them tons of stress and will make their families go hungry.

They will act fast, and you’ll surely lose a lot of good people when that happens.

Going back to the Honda case, how did they come up with this decision?

There can be a lot of reasons. Maybe because of:

  1. Low Sales
The auto industry saw a huge drop in volume sales since 2018. They have been producing fewer cars since then.

  1. Excise Tax on Automobiles
The new system simplifies the auto excise tax structure to 5% (increased from 2%) for vehicles priced up to 600,000; 20% for vehicles priced from 600,000 to 1 million; 40% for vehicles priced from 1.1 million to 2.1 million; and 60% for vehicles priced from 2.1 million and above. This has prevented new car owners from buying Honda’s higher-end cars.

  1. Move towards Green Fuel
Car owners now are more environmentally conscious. They prefer cars that run on environmentally friendly fuel instead of fossil fuels like gasoline and diesel. This has caused Honda’s car sales to go down even further.

So now, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. wants to optimize its production in Asia and Oceania. They also want to focus and concentrate on using available resources to produce more hybrid and electric automobiles.

Moving forward, Honda will also accelerate initiatives for a zero-emission society by actively promoting the effective use of renewable energy.

A true entrepreneur always innovates.

They always look for the next business opportunity, and the next best product to offer to customers.

As the late founder of Honda, Soichiro Honda said,

“Stop waiting for the perfect conditions and get to work. Maintain optimism during difficult times; take action that moves you closer to your goals, day after day after day.”

So, business owner, take a closer look at your business.

Saan ba nagkaka-aberya?

Is it from Sales? Production? Marketing? Suppliers? Logistics? Supply Chain? Collection/Payments? Your Employees’ Knowledge, Attitudes. Skills & Habits? Or your own Leadership?

Are the needs of your customers changing? What can you do to serve them better?

I understand it can be overwhelming to see all the problems.

I’ve seen business owners seek solace in Korean Telenovelas so they don’t have to face the problems.

I’ve heard about a business owner who started a farm with birds and orchids just so that he can have an excuse to run away from his business problems.
.
I’ve been there a lot of times. My favorite hiding place is to start another business which I thought wouldn’t give me the same problems.

Running away from the problems of my current business has been the cause of my greatest failure.

Running away brought my husband and me more problems: in our old businesses, our new businesses, our relationships, and it plunged us into deeper debt...

Please don’t do that to yourself and to your family.

My advice? Talk to your people. Identify the needs. Identify what needs to improve or change.

Treat your business problems as opportunities for growth.

The bad news is: your business problems will never be totally solved.  As you grow, there will be more and bigger problems.

The good news is: you don’t have to solve all your problems at the same time. You can just concentrate on one area first before you move on to the next.

What is rewarding is that with each step that you take, your business will move forward, your sales will grow, and every little thing you do will surely lead your business to success.

Grow your business more,

Your Mommy Negosyo

We work to live.

Chest x-ray

Reading Comprehension.

What is Reading Comprehension?

Apple banana blue walk tree happy sing. Surely you were able to read each of the words in that sentence and understand what they meant independently. An apple is a fruit that is usually round and red, green or yellow. A banana is another fruit that is yellow. Blue is a color…and so on and so forth. However, when you look at the sentence as a whole, does it make sense? Probably not. This nonsense sentence demonstrates the difference between being able to read words and comprehend text. As practiced readers we may take this distinction for granted since the acts of reading and comprehension occur almost simultaneously for us. For developing readers this relationship is not as apparent, but is essential for them to become strong, capable readers.
What exactly IS reading comprehension?
Simply put, reading comprehension is the act of understanding what you are reading. While the definition can be simply stated the act is not simple to teach, learn or practice. Reading comprehension is an intentional, active, interactive process that occurs before, during and after a person reads a particular piece of writing.
Reading comprehension is one of the pillars of the act of reading. When a person reads a text he engages in a complex array of cognitive processes. He is simultaneously using his awareness and understanding of phonemes (individual sound “pieces” in language), phonics (connection between letters and sounds and the relationship between sounds, letters and words) and ability to comprehend or construct meaning from the text. This last component of the act of reading is reading comprehension. It cannot occur independent of the other two elements of the process. At the same time, it is the most difficult and most important of the three.
There are two elements that make up the process of reading comprehension: vocabulary knowledge and text comprehension. In order to understand a text the reader must be able to comprehend the vocabulary used in the piece of writing. If the individual words don’t make the sense then the overall story will not either. Children can draw on their prior knowledge of vocabulary, but they also need to continually be taught new words. The best vocabulary instruction occurs at the point of need. Parents and teachers should pre-teach new words that a child will encounter in a text or aid her in understanding unfamiliar words as she comes upon them in the writing. In addition to being able to understand each distinct word in a text, the child also has to be able to put them together to develop an overall conception of what it is trying to say. This is text comprehension. Text comprehension is much more complex and varied that vocabulary knowledge. Readers use many different text comprehension strategies to develop reading comprehension. These include monitoring for understanding, answering and generating questions, summarizing and being aware of and using a text’s structure to aid comprehension.
How does reading comprehension develop?
As you can see, reading comprehension is incredibly complex and multifaceted. Because of this, readers do not develop the ability to comprehend texts quickly, easily or independently. Reading comprehension strategies must be taught over an extended period of time by parents and teachers who have knowledge and experience using them. It might seem that once a child learns to read in the elementary grades he is able to tackle any future text that comes his way. This is not true. Reading comprehension strategies must be refined, practiced and reinforced continually throughout life. Even in the middle grades and high school, parents and teachers need to continue to help their children develop reading comprehension strategies. As their reading materials become more diverse and challenging, children need to learn new tools for comprehending these texts. Content area materials such as textbooks and newspaper, magazine and journal articles pose different reading comprehension challenges for young people and thus require different comprehension strategies. The development of reading comprehension is a lifelong process that changes based on the depth and breadth of texts the person is reading.
Why is reading comprehension so important?
Without comprehension, reading is nothing more than tracking symbols on a page with your eyes and sounding them out. Imagine being handed a story written in Egyptian hieroglyphics with no understanding of their meaning. You may appreciate the words aesthetically and even be able to draw some small bits of meaning from the page, but you are not truly reading the story. The words on the page have no meaning. They are simply symbols. People read for many reasons but understanding is always a part of their purpose. Reading comprehension is important because without it reading doesn’t provide the reader with any information.
Beyond this, reading comprehension is essential to life. Much has been written about the importance of functional literacy. In order to survive and thrive in today’s world individuals must be able to comprehend basic texts such as bills, housing agreements (leases, purchase contracts), directions on packaging and transportation documents (bus and train schedules, maps, travel directions). Reading comprehension is a critical component of functional literacy. Think of the potentially dire effects of not being able to comprehend dosage directions on a bottle of medicine or warnings on a container of dangerous chemicals. With the ability to comprehend what they read, people are able not only to live safely and productively, but also to continue to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually.

Ingredients

For the Sushi Rice

  • 2 c white rice, dry
  • 2 c cold water
  • ¼ c rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt

Instructions

For the Rice

  • Place rice in a fine sieve, and rinse until water runs clear.
  • In a large saucepan, mix together water and rice. Cover and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and cook 15 minutes.
  • After 15 min, turn heat off and let rice set, covered for 10 min.
  • In a small bowl, mix together vinegar, sugar, and salt until sugar dissolves.
  • Pour over rice and mix well to coat.
  • Cool rice to room temperature before using in sushi.

For the Maki Rolls

  • Place your nori, shiny side down, on the bamboo rolling mat.
  • Cover 2/3 of the nori (from the short end) with 1/3 - 1/2 c sushi rice. You'll want the rice layer about 1/8" thick. If the rice is too sticky to spread easily, moisten your fingers with water before spreading.
  • Lay filling ingredients in a nice line, 1/3 of the way up the nori.
  • Take the bamboo mat and gently pull the bottom section (with just 1/3 of rice) up over the filling. Continue to roll the sushi, pulling the mat straight away from you to coax a nice roll. Once the roll is complete, pick up the mat with the roll and press firmly. This will press the rice in to position, and the last naked bit of nori will stick to itself, sealing the roll.
  • Cut your roll using a large, sharp knife. If you find things sticking to the knife as you cut, moisten it slightly with a little water.
  • Serve with pickled ginger, soy sauce, and/or wasabi as desired.

Lesson

♦️My instructor told me, “Do not focus on the cone, look on where you’re going. If you focus your eyes on the cone you will definitely hit them. Focus your eyes to your way and your guide so you can reach your destination.”

Cones are there not to harm you, but to prepare you and teach you. Kaya nasa sayo lng kung paano mo sila makikita.

🙏What are your cones and obstacle in life?

🙏Are the cones are there to harm you and bring you more hardship and pain?

🙏Or they are put there to level you up, so you can become the better version of you?

For things to change, first I must change.

For things to change, first I must change.

1. BE brave enough to change.
2. TIME matters.
3. CLEAR your mind.
4. SAY it.
5. SEE it.
6. BE it.
7. MOVE it.
8. BECOME a book worm.
9. WRITE it down.
10. MINIMUM time MAXIMUM impact.

Let’s review what those steps are:
1. Clear your mind: Spend a few minutes meditating and being mindful of what is going
on within your body. Tune out the world and yourself.
2. Say it: Create specific, action-based affirmations about the steps necessary to
achieve your goal.
3. See it: Visualize those steps in vivid detail. Train your brain to accomplish them.
4. Move it: Get the oxygen and blood flowing; it not only helps energize your day, but those few
minutes help you benifit your health.
5. Become a bookworm: Seek out books that can teach you knowledge and skills to accomplish
your goals.
6. Write it down: Record specifics on what you’re grateful for, or use your journaling time
to set your priorities for the day and create an action plan based on your affirmations and
visualizations.

Food to avoid

This section would not be complete without a list of foods to avoid. Health professionals caution us to avoid all these, or at least greatly limit them.

• Refined white flour and sugar and everything made from them: bread, pastry, packaged cereals, pies, doughnuts, ice cream, cookies, candy bars, and so much more.
• Processed meats (even all-beef or poultry): hot dogs, bacon, sausages, bologna and luncheon meats. Most all these items contain nitrates and/or nitrites—known carcinogens to be avoided!
• Cream cheese, margarine, and mayonnaise (these items contain undesirable chemicals; mayonnaise found in the health food section is better, but beware of rancid foods).
• Carbonated beverages. Also avoid excessive alcohol, coffee or tea.

PHYSICAL FASTING
There are two types of physical fasts:
(1) Water fasting, which now has relatively fewer advocates. This was popular prior to the mid-1900s.
(2) Juice fasting, which produces the same successful results, with additional key benefits.

Limiting toxins around the home includes some of these guidelines: Avoid using air freshener sprays, certain cleaning sprays, bug killers and even hair sprays. If using hair spray, consider spraying it outside the house. Also, when bringing clothes home from the dry cleaners, it is best to remove the plastic covers and let the clothes air out (while outdoors) for a time before bringing them into the home. Volatile chemicals are used in the cleaning process.

The principle of rest applies to both the physical and spiritual planes. Notice what occurred at the end of the creation week: “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made” (Gen. 2:2).

God set the standard by which man was to rest from all his physical labors and dedicate the time to spiritual matters. (Though He did not literally need to rest.) Aside from being a time of spiritual renewal, the Sabbath day is an opportunity to physically and mentally recuperate after six days of work. Notice: “Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God: in it you shall not do any work…” (Ex. 20:9-10).

The land Sabbath, in which the land lies idle and “rests” every seven years, is an extension of the same principle. The Creator revealed that even the land must be allowed time to recharge: “Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; but in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: you shall neither sow your field, nor prune your vineyard” (Lev. 25:3- 4). Unless the land is allowed to achieve chemical equilibrium, which comes through periodically lying dormant, the produce grown on it diminishes in quality. However, men continue to defy this law!

Just as the land Sabbath recharges the soil, resting on the weekly Sabbath invigorates man. Of course, to function properly, the daily cycle of sleep is necessary. This vital time is not wasted. Without sufficient sleep, biological systems break down.

The amount of required sleep varies with individuals. Some can function with as little as five hours. Others require nine or so. Eight hours is normal for most. When circumstances dictate, one can function with much less sleep for a time. This shows how the body adapts to meet life’s demands. Exercise and fasting increase one’s need for sleep. They also promote deeper, sounder sleep.

Sufficient sleep pays wonderful dividends. It allows one to operate at greater capacity the next day. One is better prepared, physically and mentally, to face the challenges of the new day. Sometimes, circumstances require one to work later and sacrifice sleep. Students often skip needed sleep to study for tests or complete assignments at the last moment. Advance preparation is always better than last minute sacrifices. At any rate, lost sleep is rarely ever redeemed.

Of all the body’s critical needs, sleep and rest are the most crucial. The body can survive longer without water than it can without the bare minimum of sleep and rest. Just as land denied its Sabbath rest becomes depleted, the body becomes depleted when pushed to exhaustion without rest. Therefore, allow your body ample time to rest. Too much is at stake!

The practice of hygiene is closely related to order and organization. Notice the following scripture: “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (I Cor. 14:33). Verse 40 continues, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

These verses primarily apply to how people should conduct themselves in the Church. But they extend to all areas of life.

In every arena, an absence of conscious effort to maintain order results in confusion and disorder. Pertaining to the human body, the neglect of personal hygiene is demonstrated by the image of the 1960s hippie. Filth, confusion, and disorder are only natural when one defers to laziness, making no effort to promote cleanliness and order. Consider. Without man’s intervention, a natural equilibrium results between the plant and animal kingdoms. This environmental balance is another way the creation regulates itself.

Within man’s environment—his living quarters, personal hygiene, and anywhere that man is present—the “laissez faire” (leave it alone or hands off) principle that works within the ecosystem no longer applies. Man is supposed to put forth effort and work to keep his immediate environment clean and in order. Notice: “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it” (Gen. 2:15). To dress and keep the garden meant much sustained effort and work. God wants us to produce and accomplish.

Give careful attention to the basic requirements of personal hygiene. Make a conscious effort to keep your living quarters clean and orderly. Garbage must be continually collected and disposed of. Do not allow it to accumulate wherever it falls. The condition inside and outside a home reflects whether a family practices these godly principles.

Certain hygienic practices acceptable in the 1800s and early 1900s are unacceptable today. Allowing body odor is an example. This could cost a promotion at work, or sometimes determine whether one is even retained.

Cleanliness of the hair, nails, teeth and breath should be maintained for personal health. It also demonstrates self-refinement. When one puts forth the effort of personal grooming and neatness, an acceptable self-respect is maintained. Personal hygiene, cleanliness and appropriate dress for every occasion help set the mind on a higher plane.

Accidents pose their own often overlooked threat to good health. Most accidents happen to people who are preoccupied. More often, they occur when one is in a hurry to meet a deadline. Sometimes just getting the job done seems to take precedence over doing it safely.
