HERE ARE THE THINGS YOU NEED TO DO KUNG MAY NAGPOSITIVE SA BAHAY:


1. Lahat ng may close contact sa positive, dapat magquarantine for 14 days (from last exposure/ mula noong huling nakasama mo sya) and magmonitor ng symptoms. 


Close contact meaning kasama mo yung infected person for at least 15 minutes sa isang room na wala kayong social distance at hindi kayo nakamask - nung may symptoms na sya or kahit pa nung 2 days before symptom onset nya (or, for asymptomatic cases 2 days prior to testing nya na positive ang naging result). 


The best time to do the swab (RT-PCR) is when a person has symptoms. Yun yung time na reliable yung test. 


Pag sinabi pong “symptoms”, kahit isa lang po sa sumusunod ang kabilang: ubo, sipon, lagnat, pagkawala/pagbabago ng pang-amoy o panlasa, hirap sa paghinga, sakit ng katawan/ulo, pagtatae, panghihina. Magpa-RT-PCR po sila kung mayroon kahit isa lang nito. 


If the test is done too early, pwede na false negative sila kasi mababa pa ang viral load to be detected. 


Yung sa mga naexpose at nagswab nang maaga at wala pang symptoms tapos negative ang result, need nyo pa din talaga tapusin ang quarantine for 14 days from exposure kasi ang incubation period ng covid is 2-11 days (ie. Mahawa ka today, pwede magpresent yung symptoms 2-11 days from now). 


Huwag nang matigas ang ulo please. Huwag nyo na ikalat ang virus. Kaya tayo nagssurge ng cases kasi yung mga may sakit, labas pa nang labas. 


Kung walang symptoms for 14 days, no need to swab. Deemed sila not to have covid. 


2. Yung positive patient, observe for symptom progression. Kung sipon lang or minor na cough, supportive therapy lang - 


💊mucolytic kung may ubo, 

💊decongestant kung barado ang ilong,

💊gargle bactidol or betadine or salt solution kung itchy ang throat,

💊paracetamol kung may lagnat, 

💊oral rehydration kung may diarrhea,

💊vit c + zinc

pero kung yung ubo associated with shortness of breath and/or yung fever mataas and/or iba ang level ng consciousness (tutulog tulog at di madaling gisingin), lalo na kung di nagiimprove yung symptoms for a week or more, best na machest xray at magawa ang mga necessary tests para maassess kung may pneumonia and systemic infection needing ICU or hospital admission and oxygen support. 


Kung mild lang pneumonia, pwede sa bahay imanage. Supportive therapy pa din. Kung extensive yung pneumonia at mababa oxygen saturation at hirap huminga ang pasyente, hospital dapat. 


Pero kung mild symptoms lang, gagaling naman yun magisa. Tapusin lang quarantine ng 10-14 days and dapat wala nang symptoms for at least 3 days. 

Nagsshed kasi ang covid patient ng infectious virus for upto 8-10 days. Wag na po kayo manghawa ng ibang tao. 


Wag matakot magpaRT-PCR. yan kasi ang confirmatory test. Kung symptomatic ka, magpaRT-PCR ka na para makapagcontact tracing tayo at malimit ang spread ng infection. Social responsibility yan. 


Maginquire sa LGU nyo. May mga LGU na libre ang swab. Inform nyo po sila para matulungan nila kayo.

Btw, ako po ay DOH medical officer sa COVID ER/Triage. Ang mga sinabi ko po ay based sa interim guidelines ng PSMID at DOH. Huwag po basta maniwala sa mga taong wala namang experience sa paghandle ng covid cases. Alamin po muna kung reliable sila. Hindi dahil natitickle nila ang curiosity ninyo sa notions nila ay susundin nyo na po agad lahat ng sinasabi nila. Kapakanan nyo po ang inaalala naming mga doctor. 


P.S. okay lang naman po magsuob kung nakakaluwag ng baradong ilong. Huwag lang masyadong mainit at baka mapaso ka naman. Huwag din magsusuob nang may kasama sa kwarto. Mas madali magspread yung droplets na may virus. At tandaan na hindi gamot sa covid ang suob. Hindi naman mapapatay ng init yung virus na nasa loob na ng katawan mo.

 It is possible to make lemongrass tea at home. After purchasing the stalks at a grocery store or herbalist, people can take the following steps to brew their tea:

  • cut the stalks into 1- to 2-inch pieces
  • boil a cup of water
  • pour the boiling water over the lemongrass stalks to steep

  1. Pick out 4 to 5 branches from the tree. Choose those with lots of leaves.
  2. Place them on a tray and leave in a dry place anywhere in your home for 3-4 days or until the leaves dry up and become crumpled. No need for sunlight.
  3. Pick out the crumpled leaves from the twigs and place in a dry pan over a low fire. Do not place water or oil in the pan.
  4. Cook the leaves, turning them over with a cooking spoon so that the leaves are cooked evenly. They are cooked when they are toasted but not burned.
  5. Store the cooked leaves in any container with a cover.
  6. To make the tea, take a tablespoon of the cooked leaves from the container and place in a cup of hot water. Let sit until the water absorbs the green color and nutrients of the leaves. It takes the same amount of time as making ordinary tea from tea bags.
  7. Remove the leaves from the cup.
  8. Option: add honey.

Doc: Tay kailangan  nyo pong mgpswab test. Para malaman po natin agad kung covid o hindi. 


Taytay 1: Doc hindi cguro covid to, naambunan lng ako nung isang araw.


Tatay 2: Doc hindi nman cguro, lagi lng kase akong puyat at pagod kaya ako ngksakit.


Tatay 3: Doc hindi cguro covid, dahil hindi nman ako lumalabas ng bahay.


Tatay 4: Doc uso nman po tlga ang trangkaso ngayon. 


Tatay 5: Doc ayokong pumunta sa ospital dahil sasabihin nila may covid ako. 


Tatay 6: Doc ayokong mgpswab test ng may ubo, sigurado sasabihin nila may covid ako.


Nakakalungkot, pero karamihan ay ganyan po ang iniisip. Patuloy na dumadami ang ngkkaroon ng covid, at dumadami ang kapamilyang nahahawa dahil karamihan ay ayaw mgptest agad o ayaw agad mgpcheck up, takot n malaman kung may covid o wala. Hangga't nahawa na ang ibng kapamilya. Ang msnakakatakot ay mahawa ang mga kapamilya ntin na mahina ang resistensya tulad ng mga bata at mga senior citizen.


Ano pong dapat natin gawin upang maiwasan na mgkahawahan ang mga miyembro ng pamilya:


1. Umpisa pa lng po ng sintomas ay mgpcheck up npo agad. 

2. Mag self isolate napo agad kung may nararamdaman.   Wag napong makihalubilo sa kapamilya kung may nararamdaman ka na o kung alam mong naexpose ka sa taong positibo sa covid19. 

3. Kung may budget ka, mgptest na agad sa laboratory ng rapid antigen or RT PCR (swab test) at kung mgpositibo ay ireport po agad sa RHU upang mabigyan k ng payo kung anong dapat gawin. Kung kulang po sa budget mkipgcoordinate po sa RHU para mswab ka kung kinakailangan na.

4.Wag mgsabaysabay sa pgkain ang mga miyembro ng pamilya. Ngayon lng nman ito habang may pandemya. Para pagkatapos ng pandemya ay buo pa din ang pamilya na mgsasalo salo sa hapag kainan.

5. Isuot ng maayos ang face mask at face shield. PARA SA PROTEKSYON MO YAN. Hindi yung mgsusuot k lng, dahil ayaw mong mahuli ng pulis, o dahil hindi k pppasukin sa establisimento na pupuntahan mo. 

6. Kung ikaw ang miyembro ng pamilya na malimit lumabas ng bahay dahil ngtatrabaho o ang gumagawa ng mga errands, magsuot ka p din ng face mask kahit nasa loob ka na ng bahay. 

7. STAY HOME. Kung hindi importante ang pupuntahan huwag napong lumabas ng bahay. 

8. Ugaliing maghugas lagi ng kamay lalo na pgkatapos mong humawak ng mga bagay na galing sa labas tulad ng pera, resibo, pinamili, tumaggap ng delivery, etc.

9. Wag ipasok sa loob ng bahay ang sapatos o tsinelas na sinuot mo sa labas ng bahay.

10. MALIGO ka kaagad kung galing ka sa labas ng bahay bago ka lumapit sa mga kapamilya mo.

11. Uminom ng ascorbic acid with zinc at iba png bitamina kasabay ng pagkain ng masustansya, pg-eehersisyo at pgpaaraw tuwing umaga. Iwasan po ang mga bisyo tulad ng sigarilyo at alak. 

12. Gumamit lagi ng alcohol kung ikaw ay nasa labas at hindi agad makapghugas ng kamay. 

13. MAGPABAKUNA. Takot kang mgpabakuna dahil sa iniisip mong posibleng side effect ng vaccine sa katawan mo, pero isipin mo din ang panganib na dulot ng covid19 na napakarami ng namatay.  Na sayo kung anong risk ang i take mo.

14. Mgbayanihan. Magtulong tulong po tayo. Tigilan napo ang reklamo.

15. Magpasalamat sa mga health care workers na tumutulong at ng-aasikaso sa inyo. Na patuloy na nirisk ang buhay sa panganib na dulot ng covid19. Sa ganitong paraan lumalakas ang loob nila.

16. Higit po sa lahat patuloy po tayong MAGDASAL sa Panginoon para sa proteksyon natin at ng ating mga kapamilya. At nawa'y matapos na ang pandemya na ito.

Istorya ng mahirap.

 Ang dami ng istorya ng mahirap na guminhawa ang buhay sa mabuting paraan. Di naman sikreto ginawa nila. Nagsumikap,  nag pursige, nagtiis, nagdasal at nagsipag. Gagayahin mo na lang, pati pag gaya kinatamaran mo pa?


Kung tinggin mo matalino ka kaso di ka makapagaral dahil sa kahirapan? - daming scholarship program dyan! 


Kung may trabaho ka naman kaso maliit ang sahod dahil hindi ka naman degree holder? - mag working student ka!


Kung graduate ka naman at wala ka paring mahanap na trabaho?- tiis muna sa mababang sahod! Tandaan "years of experience" ang mas hinahanap at dyan ka lalamang!


Kung gusto mo naman magnegosyo pero iniisip agad kapital?- Idea muna kailangan mo kasi madaming negosyo nagsimula sa 500 pesos pero kumikita na ngayon ng daandaang libo.

At yung kapital naloloan kung feasible talaga idea mo.


Kung gusto mo naman mabilisang pagyaman? - magasawa ka ng mayaman! yan lang ang legal! The rest sigurado ko 100%scam!


Sabi ng nanay ko nung bata ako "ang mabuhay sa patalim sa patalim din mamamatay"

Popping your ears.

 Everything You Need to Know About Popping Your Ears


The Eustachian tube supplies air to the middle ear. This helps maintain equal amounts of pressure on both sides of the eardrum.


If there’s a difference in pressure, your eardrum may bulge inward or outward in response. This causes that familiar feeling of fullness in the ear.


Popping your ears helps move the eardrum back into place, alleviating the imbalance of pressure, and eliminating or reducing your discomfort.


The Eustachian tube typically opens automatically when you swallow, blow your nose, or yawn. When you do these motions, you’ll often hear a clicking, or popping, sound. The sound is caused by air entering the middle ear through the Eustachian tube.


If the tube does not open easily, it may be obstructed. This can be caused by fluid, mucus, or earwax.


Having clogged ears can be uncomfortable and may muffle your hearing. When this happens, popping your ears may help.


Popping your ears is generally safe. It usually requires little more than moving your mouth muscles. Regardless of the technique you try, be gentle. If your symptoms worsen, stop trying to pop your ears and consult your doctor.


If you try to unclog your ears with over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription medications, avoid prolonged use. If your symptoms persist, talk to your doctor.


There are several techniques you can try to unclog or pop your ears:


1. Swallowing


When you swallow, your muscles automatically work to open the Eustachian tube. This tube connects the middle ear to the back of your nose. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy can also help activate this response.


2. Yawning


Yawning also helps open the Eustachian tube. If you can’t yawn on cue, try a fake yawn. Open your mouth as wide as it will go while breathing in and out. This may have the same result. Try “yawning” every few minutes until your ears pop.


3. Valsalva maneuver


Pinch your nostrils closed with your fingers. Try to keep your cheeks neutral, or pulled in, rather than puffed out. Next, blow air gently through your nostrils. This generates pressure in the back of the nose, which may help open the Eustachian tube.


4. Toynbee maneuver


For this technique, pinch your nostrils closed with your fingers while swallowing. Some research indicates that the Toynbee maneuver is just as effective as the Valsalva maneuver, though results differ from person to person. You may want to try both to determine which method works best for you.


5. Applying a warm washcloth


Holding a warm washcloth or covered heating pad against the ear can help eliminate congestion and open the Eustachian tube. This method can also feel soothing. It may be most effective if you have clogged ears due to a cold, the flu, or allergies.


6. Nasal decongestants


Unclogging your nasal passageways can help with clogged ears. If you use an OTC nasal decongestant, make sure to follow the directions carefully. You may want to try the Valsalva or Toynbee maneuver after using a decongestant.


7. Nasal corticosteroids


There are many OTC nasal steroids you can try. Nasal steroids may help unclog your ears by reducing the amount of inflammation in the nasal passages. This can help air move more freely through the Eustachian tube, equalizing the pressure in your ears.


8. Ventilation tubes


In extreme cases, your doctor may recommend this simple surgical technique to eliminate pain and reduce pressure. For the procedure, your doctor will administer local anesthesia. Then, they’ll insert thin ventilation tubes, also known as pressure equalizing (PE) tubes, in one or both of your ears to drain out excess fluid.  Ventilation tubes are designed to fall out on their own. This typically happens after one or two years.


If you can’t pop or unclog your ears two weeks or longer, or are experiencing pain in the ear, consult your doctor.


Your doctor can rule out any underlying conditions that may be causing this sensation. These may include:


adenoids, sinus or ear infection, allergies, 

earwax buildup, common cold, 

temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ)


A clogged eardrum can sometimes bulge to the bursting point, leading to a perforated eardrum. This may occur during activities involving rapid pressure changes, such as air travel or scuba diving. A perforated eardrum requires a doctor’s care. This condition typically dissipates within two weeks. Some cases may require an eardrum patch or surgery.

R. Papa

 Lagi nalang natatandaan basta umulan ng malakas sa Maynila laging bumabaha sa R. Papa. Pero sino nga ba itong si R. Papa? 🤔


Si R.Papa ay si Heneral Ricardo Papa Sr., na iginagalang na sundalo at naging hepe ng Manila police noong 1960's.


Kinilala ang husay niya sa paghabol sa mga smuggler at paghuli sa mga pusakal na kriminal tulad ni Leonardo Manecio, na mas kilala bilang si Nardong Putik.


Naging commanding general din siya ng Philippine Army at Deputy chief ng Philippines Constabulary.


Ipinangalan din sa kaniya ang Camp Ricardo Papa sa Bicutan, Taguig, kung saan dating alkalde ang kaniyang anak na si Papa Jr. Pinangalan din sa kanya ang isang kalye at LRT station sa Maynila.


Ang Ricardo Papa Street, kilala rin bilang R. Papa Street, ay isang maikling kalye sa Tondo, Manila, Philippines na matatagpuan sa Barrio Obrero malapit sa hilagang hangganan ng lungsod na may Caloocan.


Ang Estasyong R. Papa ng LRT ay isang estasyon sa Manila LRT (LRT-1). Katulad ng iba pang estasyon ng LRT-1, nakaangat ang estasyong R. Papa. Sugar

 KIDS DON'T NEED ADDED SUGAR ⛔⛔⛔


This is because, SUGAR is nutritionally NOT ESSENTIAL. 


SUGAR, when broken down, becomes GLUCOSE & fructose.


Fructose is only metabolized in the LIVER and can be toxic if taken regularly which adds to Insulin Resistance in the young.


GLUCOSE, coming from CARBOHYDRATES, is a POPULAR SOURCE of energy. However, it is NOT the only one. 


Yes, HUMANS, including children, adapted during evolution and acquired the capacity to burn NOT JUST GLUCOSE but also other forms of energy like KETONES from fats.


Aside from that, GLUCOSE don't need to come from sugary food. It can come from breakdown of GLYCOGEN, PROTEINS and even FATS (in the form of TRIGLYCERIDES) through the process of GLUCONEOGENESIS that is one of the basic functions of the liver.


Meaning, the body is capable of producing its own GLUCOSE even without eating any carbs.


And even you choose to get the glucose from Carbohydrates, it DOESN'T NEED TO COME FROM SWEETS or SIMPLE SUGARS. Complex carbohydrates like potatoes, pumpkins and beans are high in glucose from STARCH. It is better than sugar, but it can easily be OVEREATEN as well.


For those who would like to develop metabolic flexibility where humans, including children, can burn glucose and ketones easily depending on availability, a better group of carbohydrates can be taken which has low total net carbs, high in fiber and high in vitamins and nutrients content. These are non-starchy vegetables like cabbage, cruciferous and majority of green leafy vegetables.


100g of cabbage or lettuce will only have 3g of net carbs (or less than a teaspoon of glucose equivalent)

As compared to 100g of French Fries of potatoes with 32g net carbs (equivalent to 8 teaspoons of sugar)

Don't sip or snack while walking

 Moving while ingesting is generally a no-no in Japan.  Just a thought. What do you think? 🤔


Don't worry, I COMPLETELY KNOW the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates.


But the QUESTION IS, do you know how they can have similar net impact as well?


It's ok, you are not alone. But it is not yet too late to learn. See comments for the comparison of rice and sugar. 😊


RICE IS NOT THE BEST F00D


❌❌❌🍚🍚🍚⛔️⛔️⛔️


ASIANS & FILIPINOS all grew up Eating RICE & many now realize that white rice isn't really SAFE and the populairty of colored, higher in fiber and other nutrients in darker rice makes many thought it is already the BEST especially for those with blood sugar problems. 🍙


Brown, Red & Black Rice, because of high fiber content, are considered Low GI (Glycemic Index) foods which means, these do not spike up one's blood glucose level as fast as pure table sugar would.


If you look at it that way, sure it is "healthier". But have you ever considered comparing it to NOT having it at all? 


DlABETlCS are always advised to choose whole, unprocessed Low GI food. And indeed it helps to lower their Blood Glucose from baseline, but never down to non-diabetic range. It is because it does not address the root cause, which is INSULIN RESISTANCE (IR).


At the end of the day, what we supposedly need is to lower the PANCREATIC BURDEN to produce more INSULIN. However, most Low GI foods don't actually do that. Thus, a lowered BG after shifting from High GI to Low GI is common, but the IR is still there requiring medications.


This is consistent why believe in Low GI Whole Foods are also the same ones who don't believe DlABETES is reversible. It is because there is really no way to reach remission, since Low GI does not mean L0W Net Carbohydrate impact. The INSULIN Index is still high. With required daily caloric allowance of 40-60% still coming from carbohydrates, pancreatic REST is just near impossible, even if it is with medication/s. 


Low Carb and Very Low Carbohydrate meal plans [2 out of the 9 recommended Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for diabetics published by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in 2019] targets lowered net carb intake by replace]ing the usual Low Gi Whole Foods to nutrient-dense food groups and these showed modest control of blood sugar as well as

1. Reduction of HbA1c 

2. Weight Loss

3. Lowered Blood Pressure

4. Higher HDL-C and Lowered Triglycerides


This way, chances of remission is higher, and the possible need for more medications will become less and less as the patient improves his compliance. And yes, proper medical supervision is advised.


We understand it may be challenging at first, but that is the reason why we do what we do in our Low Carb communities and put up a support group to help those who need it the most. We believe that with the right knowledge, strong will to live and personal experience of improvement, then adherence will almost become automatic. 


Below is a theoretical diagram showing where common food groups are when it comes to blood glucose impact. The data came from our community members' self-reported BG monitoring with different foods, as well as the corresponding GI and net carb content based on 1 cup serving suggestions 1-2 hours after meal. THIS IS FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY.


Remember, an average normal plasma glucose reading of 70-100mg/dL of an average person is just equivalent to 1 teaspoon or 4g of net glucose in the bloodstream at any given time. Thus, a blood glucose increase of 180-250mg/dL after a cup of Low GI Food containing 20-40g net carbs should not surprise us.


Individual differences may occur depending on the degree of insulin resistance, pre-meal BG level, physical activity, other macronutrient (protein/fat ratio) intake, metabolic health, gender and age. 


Instead of Low GI, choose the ones in the Low Carb Whole Foods like meat, egg, fish, seafood and majority of non-starchy vegetables and you will see your BG dropping in a beautiful REAL normal range, the way it should be.

Hi Class!

I decided to lower the passing to 60% so don’t wonder if some of you were able to get a passing mark despite getting an overall percentage of less than 70%. I hope this can somehow lessen the burden that you are facing in these challenging times. Please always take your subjects seriously and I just really hope that you learned from our course. I hope our lessons can help you in your future courses and endeavors as you work on becoming a successful engineer. Always believe in yourselves.

For those who were not able to reach the 60% mark (mostly due to absences and non-submission of homeworks) - As you may have known, I tried to be more lenient about the submissions especially for the first module. May this serve as a lesson that if everyone can do it, why can’t you? You may still contact me via MS Teams for completion next quarter.

No do let your grades define your success. You will all be successful one day no matter what. Others may get there fast but eventually you’ll get there. Cheers!

May God Shut us in.

 Never thought about this before:


I have always thought that Noah was safe inside the Ark because he built it according to God's specifications. I thought that perhaps it was the strength of the gopher wood and the soundness of the architecture that ensured that the waters of the flood would not come into the Ark.


But today I encountered a verse that shifted this whole paradigm.

Let's read what Gen 7:16 says .." The animals going in were male and female of every living thing as God had commanded Noah..

THEN GOD SHUT HIM IN....


Don't miss this.... even after Noah had built the Ark, it was God Himself who shut him in, in order to shut out the waters of the flood... In other translations this verse says "The Lord sealed them inside."


May the Almighty God seal us inside His Ark of protection through this last 7 months of 2021.


It is not the fact that you have locked your house that keeps you safe at night, it is not your good driving skills that keeps you safe on the road, neither it's your healthy eating habits that keeps you healthy - only God can shut you in and shut out the devil that is seeking to devour you.


Father we pray that in this last 7 months of  2021 as we walk into the streets and as we drive on the roads, Oh God shut us in. Father we pray for our children that in the midst of dangers and molesters... You will shut them in, keep out the flood waters of abuse, rape, murder, accidents, diseases and untimely death... Oh God shut us in, shut us in your Ark of protection , into your Ark of compassion..

Why did you spill the coffee.

 I love this analogy: 


You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.


Why did you spill the coffee? 


"Because someone bumped into me!!!"


Wrong answer.


You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. 


Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.


*Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.*


Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.


*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"*


When life gets tough, what spills over?


Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? 


Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? 


Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking.


He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house?


''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything!


His answer left me tongue-tied.


He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now.


You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.


Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.


When your Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.


Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online?


Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer?


I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships.
