Here are some essential pieces of basic car knowledge:

Engine Types: Most cars have either a gasoline (petrol) engine or a diesel engine. Gasoline engines ignite a fuel-air mixture using spark plugs, while diesel engines compress air to ignite the fuel.

Transmission Types: The two main types of transmissions are manual and automatic. Manual transmissions require the driver to manually shift gears using a clutch pedal, while automatic transmissions shift gears automatically without driver intervention.

Braking Systems: Cars commonly use hydraulic braking systems. When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid transmits pressure to the brakes, causing them to engage and slow down the vehicle.

Steering Systems: The most common type of steering system in cars is the rack and pinion system, which converts the rotation of the steering wheel into lateral movement of the wheels. Power steering systems assist with easier steering by using hydraulic or electric assistance.

Tire Maintenance: Regular tire maintenance is crucial. Ensure proper tire inflation, check tire tread depth, and rotate tires periodically to promote even wear. Also, consider the weather conditions and use appropriate tires (e.g., winter tires for snow or ice).

Fluid Checks: Regularly check fluid levels, including engine oil, coolant/antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid. Adequate fluid levels are essential for proper vehicle operation and longevity.

Battery Care: Keep an eye on your vehicle's battery health. Check for corrosion on battery terminals, ensure secure connections, and replace the battery when necessary. Extreme temperatures can affect battery performance.
