Ra 8291gsis

Sa RA 8291, ang isang qualified retiree ay maaaring pumili ng 18-month cash payment + immediate monthly pension, o 5-year lump sum (60 months) + monthly pension after the 5-year guaranteed period.

1. Hired Sept. 16, 1991 — Salary ₱62,000

Given:

* Service: approximately 36 years by Sept. 2027
* Salary: ₱62,000
* SG 19 Step 6
* Age: 60 now; approximately 61 at Sept. 2027

With 36 years, the estimated BMP reaches the 90% ceiling.

Estimated Basic Monthly Pension (BMP):
₱62,000 × 90% = ₱55,800/month

Option 1 – 18-month cash payment:
₱55,800 × 18 = ₱1,004,400

Then estimated pension: ₱55,800/month

Option 2 – 5-year lump sum:
₱55,800 × 60 = ₱3,348,000

Then after the 5-year guaranteed period, estimated pension: ₱55,800/month

Estimated answer: ₱3.348 million 5-year lump sum.

2. Hired Jan. 6, 1992 — Salary ₱37,244

Birthday: May 11, 1968
Planning retirement: 2028
Approximately 36 years service.

Again, at 36 years, the estimated BMP reaches 90% of the assumed RAMC.

Estimated BMP:
₱37,244 × 90% = ₱33,519.60/month

18-month option:
₱33,519.60 × 18 = ₱603,352.80

5-year lump sum:
₱33,519.60 × 60 = ₱2,011,176

So approximately:

* 18-month cash: ₱603,353
* Monthly pension: ₱33,520
* 5-year lump sum: ₱2,011,176
* Pension after 5-year period: ₱33,520/month

3. Hired November 2003 — T3 Step 6 ₱37,522

Birthday: January 1968
Planning to retire: January 2028

Important: Hindi po 36 years ang service nito. From November 2003 to January 2028 is only about 24 years and 2 months.

Using approximately 24.17 years:

Estimated pension factor ≈ 60.42%

Estimated BMP:
₱37,522 × 60.42% ≈ ₱22,670/month

18-month cash payment:
₱22,670 × 18 ≈ ₱408,052

5-year lump sum:
₱22,670 × 60 ≈ ₱1,360,173

So approximately:

* 18-month cash: ₱408,052
* BMP: ₱22,670/month
* 5-year lump sum: ₱1,360,173
* Pension after 5-year period: approximately ₱22,670/month

Since the member will be around 60 in January 2028 and has more than 15 years of service, the retirement qualification appears generally consistent with RA 8291, subject to GSIS verification.

4. Hired Aug. 29, 1994 — Teacher III ₱36,599

Birthday: August 1970
Planning retirement: August 2030
Service: approximately 36 years

Yes po, age 60 na siya by August 2030, and the stated service will be around 36 years.

Estimated BMP reaches the 90% ceiling:

₱36,599 × 90% = ₱32,939.10/month

18-month option:
₱32,939.10 × 18 = ₱592,903.80

5-year lump sum:
₱32,939.10 × 60 = ₱1,976,346

So approximately:

* 18-month cash: ₱592,904
* BMP: ₱32,939/month
* 5-year lump sum: ₱1,976,346

Yes, generally eligible na po siya for retirement at age 60, assuming the service record and contributions are complete and the retirement is under RA 8291.

5. Hired Feb. 17, 1997 — T2 Step 8 ₱35,850

Birthday: May 15, 1973
Planning retirement: January 2032

Ito po ang kailangan nating bigyang-pansin.

In January 2032, the member will only be approximately 58 years and 8 months old, not yet 60.

Service will be approximately 34 years and 11 months.

Therefore, hindi pa siya 60 years old for the normal old-age retirement option in January 2032. However, because the member has more than 15 years of service, a separation benefit may be applicable if actually separated before age 60, subject to GSIS rules. GSIS states that a member with at least 15 years of service who is below 60 may qualify for the applicable cash payment, with the pension commencing at age 60 under the separation rules.

Using the salary provided:

Estimated BMP factor at nearly 35 years = approximately 87.29%

Estimated BMP:
₱35,850 × 87.29% ≈ ₱31,294/month

If the applicable separation benefit is the 18-month cash payment:

₱31,294 × 18 ≈ ₱563,293

So:

* Estimated BMP: ₱31,294
* Estimated 18-month cash: ₱563,293
* But January 2032 is before age 60, so this should not simply be treated as a regular old-age retirement with a 5-year retirement lump sum.

*For #5, the ₱563,293 is an illustrative 18-month amount, not a confirmation that this exact benefit will be payable under the member’s circumstances.

Very important: The actual GSIS amount can be different because GSIS will use the member’s actual recorded compensation, periods of creditable service, and applicable GSIS computation, not simply the present salary. Also, if salary increases before the retirement date, the eventual RAMC/BMP may be higher. GSIS itself requires at least 15 years of service for the RA 8291 retirement pension qualification.
