Mucus in the throat
Mucus in the throat, often called postnasal drip or catarrh, happens when your body makes excess mucus to trap irritants, causing a feeling of something stuck, coughing, or throat clearing, commonly due to colds, allergies, infections, acid reflux, or dehydration. To manage it, stay hydrated with warm liquids, use a humidifier, gargle with salt water, try steam, or use saline spray; see a doctor if mucus changes color (yellow/green), you have fever, chest pain, or shortness of breath, as it could signal a more serious issue like pneumonia or COPD.
