Arriving at the airport in the Philippines.

Here’s a checklist-style guide of important things every OFW should know when arriving at the airport in the Philippines:

OFW Arrival Guide – NAIA

1. eTravel Registration

 • Register online at https://etravel.gov.ph

 • Do it within 72 hours before arrival

 • Save or screenshot your QR code – it’s required at immigration

2. Prepare These Documents

 • Valid passport

 • Seaman’s Book or contract (if seafarer)

 • Arrival QR code (from eTravel)

 • Valid government ID (just in case)

3. Use OFW Lanes

 • Look for dedicated OFW or Seafarer Lanes at immigration and customs

 • You’ll usually get priority processing

4. Customs Rules

 • Declare goods properly

 • No need to pay tax on personal items, but excessive quantities may be taxed

 • Cash limit:

 • Max PHP 50,000

 • Max USD 10,000 (or equivalent foreign currency)

5. Duty-Free Privileges

 • OFWs are allowed to shop Duty-Free within 15 days of arrival (30 days for those from remote areas)

 • Bring your passport, boarding pass, or arrival documents as proof

6. Airport Assistance

 • POLO/OWWA sometimes has desks at the airport for OFW help

 • Ask for help if you need airport transfer or guidance

7. Family Pick-up Reminders

 • Coordinate your flight number and ETA with family

 • Some airports like NAIA have designated waiting areas

8. Things You Should Avoid Bringing

 • Drugs or controlled substances

 • Firearms or sharp weapons

 • Too much alcohol or cigarettes (within allowed limit only)

 • Pirated goods or restricted items
