Makikiuso na rin ako sa JUST SO WE NEVER FORGET.
January 29 – Despite public call, President Duterte REFUSED to impose flight ban from mainland China. His supporters used the racism narrative in defending such policy (racist at anti-Chinese daw ‘pag hindi natin pinapasok ang Chinese lalo na yung mga POGO workers);
January 31 – The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern (dedma lang tayo pero ang Taiwan nag-impose na ng export ban sa face masks bago pa man ang WHO declaration) ;
February 1 –The Philippines’ second case, a 44-year old Chinese national died; the FIRST death due to COVID-19 recorded OUTSIDE China (Chinese lang ang namatay eh, ok pa tayo);
February 5 – The President on his press conference, he addressed the nation that people should not be extra scared and he even DOWNPLAYED COVID-19 (remember the line, “sampalin ko yan veerus”);
March 7 - The first local transmission of COVID-19 was confirmed (Heto na, lumala na ang sitwasyon);
March 11- World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as global pandemic (kung kailan meron nang 118,000 positive cases sa buong mundo);
March 12 – Vice-President addressed the public about COVID-19; But later on that night, the President imposed the community quarantine within the entire National Capital Region starting March 15 (Hindi nasampal ni Pangulo ang veerus);
March 16 – The President upgraded the national emergency into enhanced community quarantine and on the next day, March 17, he placed the entire country under the state of calamity;
March 20 - Department of Health stated that mass testing is still NOT NEEDED at this point;
March 24 - Bayanihan to Heal as One Law was passed granting the President special powers and a budget of 275 billion pesos. Basic sectors, the most gravely affected by this crisis, were never consulted on the drafting of IRR.(Ang gulo ng implementation)
Why do I write this status?
One day, this will show up in my memory feed. It will be a yearly reminder that how incompetent our leaders were in dealing this crisis. That we should not take the voice of the people for granted.
